Sinalikway or “Neglected” Residents
Purok I, Sogod, Southern Leyte
The Sinalikway community, once displaced from their original settlement to their current locale, faces ongoing neglect and uncertainty due to insecure land tenure, as their land is partially owned by the government. This perpetual threat of displacement exacerbates socio-economic disparities, hindering residents' access to essential services and opportunities. Without secure land rights, they endure instability and marginalization, impeding their access to housing, education, and healthcare. Their access to water is limited to water wells, locally known as "bomba" or "poso," further highlighting the challenges of their impoverished situation.
